How To Activate The Trailer Brakes While Towing With My 2005 Dodge Ram Pickup
Question:
I have the blue port under the dash to connect to a trailer brake controller, but my 7 pin outlet in the back only has 4 wires- no blue brake wire or black charging wire. If I run a wire from the braking pin up to the cab, where do I attach it-pig tail it into the blue wire coming out of the controller? When I plug the brake controller in I have power to the controller and all trailer lights work as it is wired. 2005 Ram 1500

To get activate the trailer brakes on your trailer while towing with your 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 you will need to install the Wiring Kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 Brake Electric Trailer Brake Controllers # 5506. This will give you the extra wiring needed to get power to the brake controller.
After the wiring is installed The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 can be installed. The P3 controller automatically levels when mounted within a 360-degree vertical range. It has a LCD display with 5 storable settings that lets you customize for multiple trailers, varying loads or different drivers. It also has 3 boost levels that let you adjust initial braking power and aggressiveness.
I attached a few installation video links below.
