Distance From Corner of Bed to Gooseneck/5th Wheel on Flatbed Truck

Question:

Hi guys, technical questions. I’m building a flatbed for an older one ton dually, and I’d like to incorporate a fifth wheel/gooseneck. My question is: what’s the maximum recommended distance from the center of the gooseneck ball, to the corner of the bed? I realize this varies from trailer to trailer, but there must be some average for this.

While there is not an average, what I can tell you is that for the flatbed gooseneck and 5th wheel we offer, the maximum distance from the center of the gooseneck ball to the corner of the bed is 72 inches, and that's for the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Flatbed Trucks # BWGNRK1500.

The center of the ball will need to be forward of the axle (closest to cab) 2 - 6 inches, and that's where you'd measure the 72 inches from.

If you wanted both a 5th wheel and gooseneck, the # BWGNRK1500 will give you the gooseneck and you can add a 5th wheel with the B&W Companion Flatbed Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # BWRVK3050.
