2" Hitch Bike Rack With Shank Rise For A Lowered 1991 Mazda Miata

Question:

Hi, I have a lowered Mazda Miata, with about 12inch of ground clearance from the hitch. I am looking for a bike rack that has the highest possible rise for safety reasons + longest distance from hitch so that my muffler isnt heating up the tires. What do you recommend?

The Saris SuperClamp EX Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount, part # SA4025F, you attached to your question is an excellent choice. It has a rise of 5" from the shank. The 5" in shank rise should be enough for your bike tires to avoid being heated by the exhaust. You will not find a more significant rise without adding a hitch extender, but keep in mind when you add a hitch extender you reduce the maximum tongue weight of your bike rack by 50%.

I have included a video review link below.
