Derale Transmission Fluid Cooler For a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD With AN Transmission Lines

Question:

So I have a 2006 GMC 2500HD with the Allison transmission and the 8.1 V8. I am looking at upgrading my existing transmission cooler to a new Derale 51978. I have removed the existing rubber crimped lines and replaced them with braided steel lines and used AN fittings after I flaired the metal lines. Now looking at getting a bigger cooler and removing the lines going to the radiator and run them straight from the transmission to the cooler. I know they say that the radiator is to warm the transmission fluid when it is cold. Is there any problems with doing this?

To attach the Derale 19-Row, High-Performance, Stacked-Plate Cooler # D51978 you will need to get the correct fittings to match your AN fittings you added to your transmission lines.

Derale -6 AN Aluminum Fitting # D59006
Derale -8 AN Aluminum Fitting # D59008
Derale -10 AN Aluminum Fitting # D59010
Derale -12 AN Aluminum Fitting # D59012

You will be able to run the lines directly to the cooler and remove the lines that go into the radiator. I do recommend using a Edge Insight CS2 Comprehensive Gauge Display # EP84030 to monitor the transmission fluid temperature to ensure you do not overheat your transmission.
