Finding Best Spot on Roof Rack Crossbars for Thule Hullavator Kayak Carrier
Question:
I bought months ago my new wing bars and feet to install my previously purchased from eTrailer Hulavator on my new car. We were successful at installing the Thule bars and feet and attached the Hulavator but there is no direction as to where to locate the feet on the roof? Since my kayak is 12.5 feet we want to place it for the Hulavator’s best performance and balance on the car. Also, just as challenging has been where to locate attachments for bow and stern lines? Can you help?

The best place to locate the Thule Hullavator part # TH898 on the crossbars of your 2021 Subaru Forester is going to be where it fully clears the side of your vehicle as it raises and lowers but is also as centered on the bars as it can be to help with weight distribution like you mentioned. So what means is you will have to experiment and test a few locations to see just how centered you can get the rack on the crossbars without the rack hitting the side of the vehicle on the way up and down.
Typically for the strap on the rear hooking in on the hitch safety chain loops is present works well.
