Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness For A 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
Question:
Hi I recently ordered a trailer wiring kit from you guys, and I installed it to the truck but noticed that there wasn’t a connected ground cable that you bolt down to the truck? The part number is 41165. I drive a 2005 Chevy Colorado Extended cab 2WD. I am just curious if I received a defective part that is missing or if my truck doesn’t need the ground cable? I’m just trying to find a solution because I needed this trailer wiring kit before this Friday since I am planning to pull a trailer to go out of state.

When it comes to installing a trailer wiring harness on your 2005 Chevrolet Colorado The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 41165 is confirmed to fit your vehicle.
This custom harness plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind your rear bumper, near the driver's-side frame rail. There is no ground wire that you will have to plug in using this harness. We do recommend using a small amount of grease on all electrical connections using The Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors, 2 oz. # 11755.
Using this grease will help prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture. Once the installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. The Mounting Bracket # 18144 is recommended.
I attached an installation video link below.
