Derale 40-Row Transmission Cooler For a 1997 Ford F-250 Heavy Duty Pickup

Question:

I have a 1997 Ford F250 4x4 crew cab with the 7.3 power stroke diesel. The truck is all original. It is not a daily driver. I use it to pull toy and travel trailers for fun. I live in the Az desert. The Tranny temp hits 240 in the summer. I want to upgrade my factory tranny cooler and bypass/ the radiator tranny cooling. My current factory aluminum tranny cooling lines are 5/16 OD. I think the rubber connecting hoses are 5/16 ID. I have my eye on your Derale 40 row stacked cooler. Is this cooler a good choice for me to use? Also, Can you help me get lined out on what connector adaptors to order. Thanks for any suggestions or guidance you might be able to offer. thx

To use the Derale 40-Row, High-Performance, Stacked-Plate Cooler # D54006 on your 1997 Ford F-250 you will a few parts to attach to your 5/16" transmission line. First you need two if the Derale -6 AN Female Swivel x 3/8" Barb Hose Fittings # D98200 to convert the AN fittings on the cooler. Then you will need some 3/8" Derale High-Temperature Replacement Hose # D13016 which comes in a 5' length. Depending on the placement of your cooler you may need 2 of these. The Derale Stainless Steel Hose Clamps # D13008 will secure the hose on the fittings. Finally you will need a male to male barbed fitting from the 3/8" hose to the transmission line hose. This you will be able to find at a local auto parts store once you verify the ID of your hose.

For added cooling we also have the Derale Transmission Pan Cooler # D14208 for Ford E4OD, 4R100, 5R110 and 5R110W transmissions. It will increase your capacity as well as help to dissipate heat. You will want to verify your transmission is one of these for fitment.
