Will Adding Chains to Titan HItch Box Extension Make it a Weight Distribution System
Question:
Is weight distribution simply running a chain from the hitch extension back to the pickup?

The chains you typically see with the Titan Hitch Box Extension for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches, 41" - 48" Long # RP45018 are safety chains. Although it is compatible with a weight distribution hitch, this is nothing more than an extension of the hitch on the back of your vehicle.
If you plan on using a WDH you want to choose one based on your loaded tongue weight. For example, the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # EQ37100ET would be a good choice if you have a tongue weight that is 600-1,000 lbs. The shank for this WDH would fit into the 2" receiver on the end of the extension and the brackets would be installed on the trailer frame.
I have attached some helpful articles on weight distribution for your reference.
