Replacement Weight Distribution Shank For A 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 Trailer Hitch
Question:
I just sold the old 2005 Chevy Suburban 8.1L LT Autoride and bought a 2017 Ford F250 6.7L diesel. The trailer we tow is a 31 foot Puma that is probably around 10,000 lbs with all our stuff in it and full tanks. More specific to this forum is the hitch I use. Its a Husky load leveling hitch. Dont know the model offhand but its got the solid bars that rest in cradles mounted to the trailer tongue and pistons up by the head of the load bars to help with sway. Its somewhere in the $800 range. Nice hitch. Ive been really happy with it. What I didnt think about when I upgraded my vehicle was the fact that the receiver on the Ford is larger. 2inch on the old Chevy, 2.5inch on the Ford. I *think* all I need to do is buy a new shank for the hitch that will still fit the vertical slot in the hitch head Is that whats its called? The part with the pistons and the ball that bolts to the shank. with a larger horizontal stem to fit the new 2.5inch receiver.

You are correct, you'll just need a WDS shank that is capable of working with your 2017 Ford F-250 with a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" trailer hitch receiver.
I recommend checking out the:
-Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2" Hitch # BXW4028.
This shank will work great with your Husky WDS and your truck's 2-1/2" trailer hitch receiver, and has a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 20,000lbs, with a maximum tongue weight capacity of 2,000lbs.
