What Function Does The 4 Wires Have On The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Harness
Question:
Read about options to accessing the brake wire other than at the switch. On my 4R, not only very hard to access, but there are 4 very small gauge wires attached to the switch. My questions: What is the 3rd brake wire referenced in some of Mikes responses to similar questions on other vehicles? Would any wire that exclusively operates the brake lights work? Should I be able to find this wire under a kick panel or elsewhere? Why the large gauge difference in the wire from the controller and the wires coming from the brake switch? Thanks

When it comes to the pigtail for The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional # 90885 there are 4 main wires that are needed to function properly there are as followed:
Black - 12 Volt Hot Lead
Red = Reverse Lights
Blue - Electric Brakes
White - Ground
The Blue and White wires are larger gauge because more power is needed to go through and is constantly being used. The wire connection area should be left of the steering column in your 2002 Toyota 4Runner.
