Thule HideAway Awing Information and Geographical Availability

Question:

Was about to pull the trigger on the Thule TH490011 but as a I was finishing up my research online, I came across a site that says the 4200 supersedes the 4900. But then the only details I could find were on Thules UK website. The US website doesnt have it. Main difference appeared that the 4200 is lighter and the case is smaller although its still the same length and wide for the awning. Do you know if the 4200 will be coming to the US? Or is it pretty standard for Thule to have different offering in different geographies? Also, as long as Im asking questions, looking at the installation manual on page 3, both Fix A and Fix B which are the two options for the 3.00m version Im looking at here, the picture on the right shows an M4.2x15 screw and a 3mm drill bit. Is it correct that Ill be drilling a hole in the case to attach a screw to secure the awning to the mount? I wish their were words/description but the manual is only pictures. On page 2, it looks like there are 5 of these screws, so Im screwing all 5 in equally spaced across the awning? Thanks!

I contacted the manufacturer about your questions. They informed me that the # TH490011 (4900) was superseded by the 6300 and that they are currently only available in two sizes.

- 12.3 ft. # TH64WJ

- 10.8 ft. # TH620001

You are also correct that geographically there are different models that the US does not carry and does not have access to purchase.

As far as the installation of the # TH490011, I agree that it would be more helpful to have some verbiage to help describe what needs to be done. The instructions do look like you would drill through the case but I do not believe that is what you are supposed to do. They were unable to provide any guidance on that at this time, but they forwarded that question to their technical team. When I hear back from them, I will forward that information on to you.
