Trunk Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2008 BMW X3

Question:

Reviewing your website. Looking for a secure two-bicycle rack that fits our 2008 BMW X3. Found the Yamima King Joe Pro 2 Bike Rack. Folding arms, and trunk mount. Will this model work for us? Would we need to order an extra set of glass straps? One womens bike: would it be necessary to order frame adapter part #YO253? Is a security strap #YO2623 recommended? Are lockable cable #YO7233 and lock cores #YO7207 recommended? Thank you very much for any insights you can provide. We dont want to buy the wrong bike rack and worry if it is going to fall off going down the road!

The only trunk mount bike rack that will fit the 2008 BMW X3 is the Hollywood Racks Over-The-Top rack # HRF2. It was designed with an additional upper arm piece that lifts the top straps up and over the rear spoiler at the top of the hatch on the vehicle. This is so no stress is put on the spoiler which could get damaged otherwise. I have linked a video showing the features of the rack for you.

Using a cable lock like # e98891 and a passive security strap such as # TH533 are recommended to lock the bikes to the rack and the rack to the vehicle.

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical mens bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # HRBA-PRO. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wifes bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my sons bike at all.

Be sure that the rack and vehicle are clean where they contact each other to avoid scratches. A coat of wax in the area also will provide additional protection.
