If your 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 flatbed already has a factory 7-way trailer connector installed then replacing it with the Curt 7-Way/4-Way with Backup Alarm, part # C57101, should be a simple process. There should be a round U.S. Car Connector plugged in to the back of the existing 7-Way; please refer to the linked photo that shows the back of the Curt connector that will mate with this connector. In this case you will simply unplug the connector from the back of the existing 7-way and plug it in to the new Curt 7-Way.
If there is no 7-way on the vehicle now, there will be a wire harness tucked in above the spare tire (or behind the bumper) that will either have the round U.S. Car Connector or a bundle of blunt-cut wires. If you find only blunt wires you will need to use a pigtail harness to splice to these wires and provide the necessary, round connector for the Curt trailer connector. You can use Pollak harness # PK11998.
Although often wiring is color coded there is always a chance that the vehicle manufacturer used non-standard wire colors for the various functions carried on the 7-way. For this reason, we always recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to verify the function carried on each wire before making your connections to the pigtail harness. Using the tester will provide confirmation of the function on each wire.
The linked article on trailer wiring provides a guide for the functions assigned to each contact of the 7-Way.
It also includes a troubleshooting guide in case you need it.
