When installing a brake controller in your 2002 GMC Safari there a few different things you will need. To start out you will need The Curt Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C55411. This will give you the initial 4 flat harness used to get your trailer lights to mirror your 2002 GMC Safari's lights.
Next you will need The Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. This will attach into your 4 flat harness making it into a 7 round and 4 flat system giving you the additional wires used to activate the brakes on your trailer and for them to mirror the vehicles brakes. The 4 extra wiring functions are listed below:
Black - 12 Volt Hot Lead
Blue - Electric Brake
White - Ground
Yellow - Reverse Light
Finally The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional # 90885 will attach into the extra wires from the # ETBC7. This proportional brake controller automatically levels when mounted within a 360-degree vertical range. It includes 3 boost levels, has battery protection and continuous diagnostics and can easily be transferred between different vehicles.
I attached an installation video link below.
