Can 2 Lockrack XL Carriers be Used on 53 Inch Crossbars

Question:

Im trying to figure out what the max width of the arms for the Lockrack will be while carrying a Current Designs Equinox GT. The dimensions of the kayak are: Overall Length: 16foot 0inch 487.68cm Width: 24.00inch 60.96cm Depth: 13.50inch 34.29cm Specifically, Im trying to determine if I have room on my 53 inch crossbars for two of these some overhang would be acceptable Thanks!

If your roof rack crossbars have T-Slots then you'll be able to use 2 of the Lockrack Adjustable XL Watersport Carrier # LR54FR but you'll have to keep the inner arms inserted all the way into the base and then use the outer arms to secure your kayaks. It is worth noting that Lockrack recommends having both arms adjusted the same though so you would have to install the kayaks offset and they may not fit exactly. Because of this I recommend using a different kayak carrier so we can install the kayak properly and know that we have enough room on your roof rack (the Lockrack would be pushing the limits of the roof rack as well).

For your application I recommend using the Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier and TelosXL Load Assist w/ Tie-Downs # MPG114MD-351XL for one side and then getting another DownLoader # MPG114MD for the other side. The TelosXL can then be moved from one side of your vehicle to the other to assist with the loading.

Attached are some videos for you to check out.
