Compatibility of Thule Passage 3 Bike Rack # TH911XT with Spoiler on 2008 Chevy Equinox

Hi , My ? Is I gave an equinox 2008 with a spoiler and I bought this product because I dont have the hitch in the bottom of the car.. But Im a concern it my damage my spoiler.. It did state that it was for this model and make on the website? Thanks

We do indeed list the Passage 3 trunk mounted bike rack as a fit for the 2008 Chevy Equinox, but just to be sure, I phoned Thule to confirm.

Thule tells me that their Passage 3 bike rack, part # TH911XT will fit your Equinox and will work with the spoiler. They have tested their trunk mount racks with this particular vehicle, and have found the because most of the weight of the rack will be borne by the bottom of the rack resting on the vehicle, the spoiler is substantial enough that it can support the rack and bikes placed upon it.

Make sure to observe the weight capacity of the rack, and be aware that the rear wiper cannot be used while the rack is in place. Also, it is not recommended that the hatch be opened while the rack is in place. The struts that hold the rear hatch open might not be able to handle the additional weight of the rack, and cause the hatch to unexpectedly close causing injury.

To carry womens bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes or step-through frames, using a frame adapter like part # TH982XT is recommended. The adapter spans the distance between the seat post and the handle bar gooseneck, and provides a level attachment point to the bike rack so the bike has greater ground clearance and is not carried at an angle.
