Curt Echo Brake Controller Does Not Power On When Connected To Truck 7-Way
Question:
Controller doesn’t power up

Expert Reply:
The Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 receives power from the Charge line circuit of the 7-way. This will be the male terminal located at the 5'oclock position of your 7-way, and a Test Light # PTW2993 can be used to verify power. Many newer trucks will not send power to the 7-way until it recognizes that a trailer is connected or has been setup properly through the trucks towing diagnostic system. Be sure to check your owners manual to determine if this may be the case.
Otherwise you may just have a bad or missing fuse/relay in your vehicle. If you can let me know what vehicle you are connecting to I can help to troubleshoot further.
