How Do I Identify What Entry Door Lock I Need For My Camper

Question:

Looking to replace the entry door latch on my 1989 fleetwood prowler model 22h. It has the standard latch cut out size but no dead bolt. Not sure if the newer ones with dead bolt will work.. Thanks

I recommend that you first remove the current lock and identify the cutout measurement. I have two optons listed below and which one you need is based on your cutout dimensions. Be aware that entry door locks are not a tight tolerance fit, so the cut out dimensions can be a little larger and the locks still fit just and operate just fine.

The Bauer Products Camper Door Lock, # BA65FR fits doors that are 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" thick and required a cutout dimension of 5-1/4" wide x 4-1/2" tall. This option does not have deadbolt.

The Global Link RV Entry Door Locking Latch Kit with Keyed Alike Option, # 295-000019 installs into latch cutouts that are 2-1/2" wide x 3-1/2" tall to 3" wide x 4" tall.

Please note the linked video below that walks through the process of removing and replacing a door entry latch.
