Use of 5th Airborne Custom Wedge for B&W Hitch

Question:

I have a 2018 F-150 w/5.5foot bed Ive ordered a BandW Patriot 16k and Reese custom rail kit. I do not have a 5th wheel yet, so I dont know what Sidewinder pin box Ill need. I understand what the wedge does- what I dont get is how it functions with the pin and and plate, and if it makes hitching more difficult, or easier, or....?? Thanks !

The purpose of the wedge is that it prevents the king pin on the pin box from rotating in the jaws of the 5th wheel hitch. When towing with a standard king pin, the fifth wheel trailer turns or pivots where the king pin is connected to the hitch. With the sidewinder, the truck and trailer are prevented from pivoting at the hitch. Instead the pivot point is located closer to the tailgate, creating much more space in between the truck cab and trailer on sharp turns.

The 5th Airborne Custom Wedge, # SWW-06 is designed specifically for B&W hitches. This does not change the ease or increase the difficulty in connecting the RV to the tow vehicle.

I linked a help article below for information on pin boxes, hopefully you find it valuable.
