Recommended SumoSprings For 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Towing Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax and tow a 27 foot travel trailer that weights 7500lbs GVWR and 615 hitch weight. I get a little sag on rear which gives a bit of front end lift and headlights need to be adjusted when towing. Do you recommend the Blue or Black sumo spring? I dont want a stiff ride when I am not towing.

Expert Reply:

For your 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 HD towing a travel trailer, the best option for SumoSprings to help with the sag you are getting are the black version, which is the following part number:

- SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-211-47

The black # SSR-211-47 have a 1,500 lb capacity (at 50 percent compression), which means when you are towing, they won't be as compressed as the lighter-duty springs, allowing more forgiveness in your ride and better overall stability.

The unloaded ride of your Sierra won't be affected either, as you won't feel it, with the exception of going over something like a speed bump, for example, which would cause a lot of suspension travel. But with normal, everyday driving your truck will have the same ride.
