Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2002 Chevy Tracker Behind a Motor Home
Question:
I am preparing to order the tow bar RM 020 and base plates 1012-1. Will these work on my tracker? If not, what do I need? Los, is there anything else I need to tow the tracker behind my 2012 coachman freelander?

Yes, the Roadmaster base plates, # 1012-1, will fit your 2002 Chevy Tracker and the tow bar, # RM-020, is compatible with the base plates. But you will also need quick disconnects, # RM-201, to make the tow bar easily removable from the vehicle. Before you go any further though you will want to consult the vehicle owners manual to make sure that you can flat tow the vehicle and if so if there are any special requirements.
You will need just 3 other items to flat tow the vehicle if permissible to do so. First you will need safety cables, # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.
Next you will need lighting. I recommend either a simple magnetic kit like # RM-2120, this kit will set up quick and easy and you will not have to cut into the vehicle wiring to use it.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Even Brake, # RM-9400. This is a proportional braking system that will apply the Trackers brake in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles. A 12 volt outlet kit, # RM-9332, is also recommended with this braking system and your Tracker.
I have included some helpful links on flat towing for you as well.
