Complete Flat Towing Setup For A 2007 Jeep Wrangler With A DV8 Bumper With A Winch

Question:

I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler JK. It has a aftermarket DV8 bumper w/winch. I was wondering if I can tow the Jeep from the clevis points? Second question is this Jeep has a stock suspension and if I can’t pull this from the bumper I was going to install Blue Ox baseplate. At a later date I’m wanting to install a 2.5” lift, will this screw up angle of the baseplate?

The good news is yes, you can use your DV8 bumper with a winch on your 2007 Jeep Wrangler to flat tow your vehicle.

You'll just need to use an adapter like the Blue Ox Off-Road Bumper Adapters for Blue Ox Motorhome Mounted Tow Bars # BX88357, which has a 7/8" diameter pin, or the Blue Ox Off-Road Bumper Adapters for Blue Ox Motorhome Mounted Tow Bars # BX88358; You will just need to verify the size pin you need for your DV8 bumper.

Secondly, if you were to install a lift kit, and go with a traditional base plate like the Curt Custom Base Plate Kit # C33FR, all you may need is a high-low adapter like # RM-048-4 to compensate for the height difference.

If you're interested in a complete flat towing setup for your 2007 Jeep Wrangler, you're also going to need:

-A set of tow bars compatible with the adapters you need, like the Blue Ox Ascent # BX4375.

-A braking system like, the Brake Buddy Select 3 # HM39524.

&

-A wiring kit, like the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-98146-7.

Like I mentioned earlier, you may still need a high-low adapter no matter which route you decided to go with to keep your toad level with your motorhome.

To verify, I recommend checking out the FAQ I have attached which goes into detail on how you can determine the rise and drop needed for your vehicle.
