Replacement Water Heater Option For A Atwood AT94023 On A 2004 Itasca Suncruiser

Question:

I have a 2004 Itasca Suncruiser and the atwood water heater is mounted inside one of the basement compartments. The compartment door closes over the water heater with a small cutout in the compartment door to vent the water heater. Any replacement must take into account where the vent in the compartment door is located, What can you suggest?

For your 2004 Itasca Suncruiser, with an Atwood RV Water Heater w/ Heat Exchange AT94023, which is no longer available, I recommend going with the Dometic RV Water Heater # DMC74FR.

This tank is a bit smaller at 6 gallons, versus AT94023 10 gallon capacity, but will also produce up to 12 gallons of hot water per hour, which should be plenty.

Additionally, this unit has an aluminum clad tank, that does a great job preventing corrosion, and also has a high-temperature limit switch, which will automatically shut off the unit if the temperature threshold is exceeded.

Is this replacement tank still in production and fit as suitable replacement or is there another newer option? Thank you

@ClaudeS Yes the Dometic RV Water Heater # DMC74FR is still in production and is still a great replacement option. I'd say if you were upgrading though, I'd just get a tankless # FR98SR so you can have on demand hot water.
