Installation of Tekonsha Prodigy RF for 2011 Mercedes-Benz GL 350 Towing Airstream Flying Cloud
Question:
Im looking for a brake controller for a new Airstream Flying Cloud 23ft 2 axle and I am wondering if I install this on the trailer, will I need to make any modifications to my 2011 GL 350 Blutecs 7 pin? I have not pulled an Airstream with my GL before, and someone had told me that I will need to make modifications to my GLs 7 pin factory installed plug. Should this work fine with without making any modifications to my vehicle? Thank you.

Installing the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller w/ Bluetooth will not require any modification to your 2011 Mercedes GL 350. You already have a 7-way so the only thing you will have to do is mount the brake controller on the trailer and plug the 7-way in. The remote plugs in inside your vehicle and pairs with the brake controller.
If you would like to avoid mounting a brake controller on your trailer, I recommend the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 instead. This plugs in line with the 7-way at the back of your vehicle without needing to mount it to the trailer. Instead of a remote, it uses an app on your phone. The app allows you to adjust the braking power and also acts as the manual override. This also gives you the option to use it on other trailers if you tow something else with your Mercedes.
I have attached some review and installation videos for your reference.
