Bike Rack Recommendation for E-Bikes on a Motorhome

Question:

I ordered the straps and ramp for the Thule Easyfold. Wanted to make sure they were in stock BEFORE ordering the Thule Easyfold. Went to order the rack and saw it is NOT marked for a motorhome. Although it looks like several purchased it for motorhomes through you web site. This rack seemed perfect we have two ebikes around 62 lbs each, the Rad mini 4 and Rad step through. Wanted rack for 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe and our 2022 Thor Quantum MB24 Motorhome. Really wanted to have a RAMP since I am a female and 70 years old. Would like added security locks. Would like to handle 3” and 4” tires. Not much garage space and if I have to carry a rack, I need one light weight. CAN I USE THE THULE EASYFOLD ON THE MOTORHOME? If not Yakima stated 65 lbs each bike but only 40lbs for Motorhome? CAN I USE THAT no off road traveling? Last choice pushes all the buttons but storage and lack of a ramp which is major. In my situation is the Thule still a consideration? Or my next choice the Yakima? What is your suggestion?

I have a great solution for you. However, the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 is not rated for motorhome use. This is because the rack is not constructed to withstand the extra torque and force exerted on a rack that is mounted on the rear of a motorhome. Also, as far as the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR, even though it comes with an integrated ramp, the 40-pound per bike weight capacity applies on a motorhome even on on-road terrain. With that being said, it does not provide you the weight capacity you need.

All this being said, we do not have a bike rack option with a ramp that provides you the weight capacity you need and is rated for motorhome use. If you are set to have a rack on the back of your motorhome, I recommend using the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # S94FR. The E-Spec comes with a 70-pound per bike weight capacity and is designed for brute strength to withstand the added torque and force while mounted on a motorhome. It also comes loaded with a hitch lock and bike locks to protect both the rack and your bikes. As far as overall weight, the rack weighs 60 pounds.

As far as bike tires between 3-5 inches wide, you need the fat bike cradles # S64679 for each bike. Also, if you happen to have a step-thru frame on your Rad Mini 4 bikes, you need a bike frame adapter bar # 64005 for each bike. The adapter provides you with a straight, horizontal plane that is required to attach to the ratcheting hooks of the E-Spec. I went ahead and attached a video that shows how the bar works.
