Accessing a Ventline Nothern Breeze to Look at the Operator

Question:

2009 Jayco Jayflight with Ventline Northern Breeze vent. I just realized the lid is supposed to be motor operated. We bought the RV a few months ago, and have always operated the cover manually. How can I open this unit up to look at the operator? The mounting broke loose today, and I can raise and lower the cover some just by pushing up on the knob. I cant close the cover completely. Do you have any information on how to take the housing off, so I can see if I can fix it? Thanks for your help.

I have included a diagram that shows the location of some screws that attach the screen frame and the upper housing (fan shroud) to the flange. That may allow you to access the area you are needing to look at.

The Ventline Northern Breeze is a discontinued fan model and there are very few replacement parts available. If you get in there and realize you are in need of replacing some parts, you would be better off replacing the vent/fan with something like the Ventline Ventadome Trailer Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # V2094SP-34.
