Troubleshooting Knob Not Lighting Up on Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller

Question:

I installed my brake control. I also checked all the signals with a 7 way tester, everything works. However, no light comes on on my switch when I plug in the trailer. I went for a test drive, the controller works when I brake, when I turn the wheel, it also brakes according to the intensity requested, but no light comes on around the switch. When I press the button for 3 seconds, the emergency brakes work. Except its giving a warning in the dashboard that a device is being operated, communicate with the dealer. When I restart the vehicle, the warning is gone, but comes back if I press the button for 3 seconds Is the light switch defective? Is there a step that I am not doing well. I checked the connections and everything is fine. please help me please

Since everything else is working on your Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR there may be a problem with the light pipe on the control knob. there is a 90 degree light pipe which is what brings the light up and out through the button.

If this is no longer in the correct position then it can definitely cause the light to be extremely dim, possibly to a point where you can't see it. If you look at the top of the button there is a small clear piece of plastic protruding from a small hole - this is the light pipe itself. Make sure it's there and not pushed back into the hole, bringing back out as needed. If you continue to have this issue it is something that is covered under the warranty.

Regarding the warning on your vehicle, it is difficult to say without knowing what vehicle you have. Obviously the computer in your vehicle has detected you are using the brake controller but I don't know if there is a way to keep that error from showing up. I would recommend following what the message says and contact the dealer to see if they can help.
