Charge Kit For Towed Vehicle to Keep Battery Topped Off

Question:

Hi there, I need to build a DC to DC car battery tender to maintain my car battery charged during travels unfortunately I don’t have an AC outlet to use the factory tender provided with the car = input 110V AC, output 12V DC, 3.3A, 4-step charging. I was considering a motorcycle/maritime 12V battery as the auxiliary and then part #2024-07 feeding stable 12V into the stock car battery. I saw the minimum output of #2024-07 is 4A higher than max desired 3.3A and, additionally, I am not sure if the aux motorcycle/maritime battery capacity would suffice for extended periods of time. Any feedback on the setup would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance,

Sounds like what you are after is something like the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line kit part # RM-156-25 which is a 10 gauge wire that runs to the towed vehicle battery and gives it a maintenance charge. This would be a simpler and better solution than the breakaway battery charger you mentioned.
