Best Brake Controller for a 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
Question:
Hi- I have a 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. Bought it used. Previous owners had the Mopar hitch installed as well as the 4 pin and 7 pin connectors. Which brake controller do you recommend for easy installation? Will be towing nuCamp T@B 320s Boondock which has a 2900 GVWR. Thank you.

I have the perfect brake controller for your 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. It is the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller item # RED24FR. This is a proportional brake controller that will engage your trailer's brakes when your Jeep decelerates. It activates immediately and is not time delayed. The Tow-Pro Liberty has a unique installation method that allows you to mount the main control unit out of sight behind your dash. The only part visible is the control knob.
We have a couple of other mounting options for the control knob that can go inside inserts in your dash. This will give you a clean factory look install. The Universal Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob item # 331-TPSI-001 which measures 1-1/4 by 1 inch. There is also the option of using the Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob item # 331-TPSI-002 for the more standard knock-out measuring 1-1/4 by 7/8 inch. I have attached a couple of pictures below that show the dimensions of these mounts.
It sounds like your 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk did not come with the factory towing package so there isn't going to be a plug and play installation available. You are going to need the Universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers item # RED69FR to complete your installation.
