Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Swing Away Bike Rack For a 2021 BMW X3
Question:
I need a bike rack for 2 bikes - generally lightweight road bikes with carbon-fiber frames. 1. Should I get a 1 1/4 inch or a 2 inch mount? 2. I like the swing feature - where you can open the rear hatch without taking teh bikes off teh rack. What rack do you recommend?

I recommend going with the 2" mounts whenever possible. The 2" hitch has a larger selection of options for you to get the bike rack that you prefer.
The RockyMounts BackStage Bike Rack # RKY10002 has what you are looking for. It comes with a swing away built in so you will be able to move your bikes to access the rear cargo area. It uses a wheel mount so it will not risk any damage to your carbon frames.
If you are in need of a receiver for your 2021 BMW X3, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76226. This has the 2" receiver and will fit the all trims except the M trim. For an M trim you would need the Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # SH45VR.
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # TK77FR will allow you to use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 with your bikes mounted if they impair the view of your tail lights on your X3. This can also control the lights on most small trailers in the event you need to pull one.
