5th Wheel Installation Kit Location for a 1989 Ford F-150 Short Bed

Question:

I Have a 1989 Ford F150 short bed, Im installing a 15k draw-tite slider 5th wheel hitch.I need to know the measurements for setting the rails. Any help is greatly appreciated.

For your 1989 Ford F-150 short bed, the installation kit we carry is the Reese universal kit # RP30035. I have linked the installation instructions for you to view that will show you all the measurements you will need to install the hitch. The instructions specific to your truck are on page 11.

To start you will measure from the rear edge of the bed (not the tailgate) forward 32-1/2 inches. This is where the back of the rear rail will be. Then you can use the hitch to locate the front rail.

In addition to the specific instructions for your truck be sure to use the first part of the instructions for the rest of the isntallation.
