Option to Upgrade Axle to 3,500 lb Axle-Less System & Hub With 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern
Question:
Hello, I wanted to upgrade my axle and hub assembly. I currently have a 63” hub face to hub face axle. 53.5 spring center. I wanted to upgrade to a 70” hub face to hub face and I wanted to upgrade my leaf also. Both the axle and leaf should be a 3500 lbs capacity. Also wanted to upgrade my 4 by 4 hub to 5 by 4.5. I want to try and fit bigger tires on my trailer. Do you have any recommendations on all the parts I need? Thank you

While there's an option to consider, the shortest 3,500 lb axle is 89 inches hub face to hub face, so the only option for upgrading to a 3,500 lb axle is using an axle-less system:
- Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - Straight Spindle Only - 3,500 lbs # ASR3500S05
The Timbren are simply bolted or welded so you do not have to worry about finding an axle that meets any specific measurements. Also, leaf springs are also not needed because they have progressive springs built in which are shock absorbers that allow a much smoother, more comfortable ride than the leaf springs found on standard axles.
Along with the springs, the Timbren axle-less further improves your ride compared to a traditional through-axle because they aren't connected by an axle beam, so they work independently, meaning if there is a bump on one side of the road it won't rattle your entire trailer.
If you'd like to go this route you'd also need hubs, with the correct fit being the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # 84545UC1-EZ or Hub & Drum # 84546UC3-EZ.
