Can 2022 Ram 3500 with Ram Boxes Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

As noted 2022 3500 bw turnover ball companion 5th wheel hitch. Truck has 6.4 bed with ramboxes. I have a Elkridge 39 with lippert king pin. Will this combination work towing? I ordered a sidewinder but was told not compatible with turnover ball. I need advice here please how I can make this work now that turnover ball has been installed in my new truck.

The only way to tow a fifth wheel trailer with a truck that has the Ram Boxes is by using a pivoting pin box like the Sidewinder you mentioned. This is because the pivot point is moved up higher which prevents the pin box from hitting the Ram Boxes around corners. So the problem you have is that the Turnoverball B and W gooseneck hitch and Companion hitches can't be used with Sidewinders since that puts too much torque on the gooseneck ball shaft that the Companion uses for attachment.

So you are going to need to return the Turnoverball rail kit and instead install a standard set of fifth wheel rails like the part # BWRVK2605 that fits your 2022 Ram 3500 and instead use the Patriot Hitch part # BWRVK3255 which attaches to the rails in four places. This setup will allow you to use a Sidewinder. I'd need to know what pin box model you have now to pick out a Sidewinder. There unfortunately is no other way to tow a fifth wheel trailer with your truck.
