Can Curt C51180 Echo Wireless Brake Controller Be Installed in 7-Way Installed in Truck Bed

Will the Curt Echo Brake Controller work if it is plugged inside the bed of my truck where my 7 way is mounted in the sidewall

Due to its triple axis accelerometer, the # C51180 doesn't need to be perfectly level, but it will need to be pointed in the general direction of travel in order to work correctly.

Curt tells me that it shouldn't be used in a 7-way installed in the side of your truck bed.
