Do I Need Higher Rated ST175/80R13 Tires On My Camper
Question:
I have question about tires for camper. My tires say that at 50 psi they support 1360 # each, total 2720. My camper has GVWR of 3750. Shouldnt I have better tires? Can I upgrade to larger capacity? Am I supposed to run them at 50 PSI? Tires are now ST175/80R13.

Helpful Expert Reply:
The tires on a trailer usually don't cover the entire loaded weight as some of that weight is being placed directly onto the vehicle via the hitch but it should be close, about 10-15% less the GVWR. If you need a higher load rating then you'll have to go with d rated at 1,610 lbs per tire, the Loadstar ST175/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire part # AM1ST77 is what I recommend.
In regards to psi, we can only recommend what's on the tire sidewall which is max cold fill.
