Necessary Parts To Flat Tow A 1989 Ford Bronco !!
Question:
I plan on towing a 1989 Bronco II behind my motor home or F-350 with a truck camper. What products would I need to safely and legally tow throughout the United States and Canada?

If your 1989 Ford Bronco II has a manual transfer case, you will be able to flat tow this vehicle. The vehicle will need to be placed in neutral at the transfer case. Once this is done, you can flat tow. You will need a few items to flat tow your 1989 Ford Bronco II: a base plate, tow bar, brake controller, wiring harness, and safety chains.
The base plate I recommend for your vehicle is the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit - Fixed Arms. part # 411-1. It is compatible with Roadmaster tow bars. You will also need the Replacement Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly for Roadmaster Motorhome Mounted Tow Bars. part # 910021-00. This is necessary to connect your base plate to the tow bar. The towbar I recommend is the Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 10K, part # RM-422. This tow bar has a weight rating of 10,000 lbs and it is non-binding, so you do not have to be on flat ground to connect the tow bar to your vehicle.
Next on the list is the supplemental braking syste, and the wiring harness. My recommendation is the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional, part # HM39524. This supplemental braking system is a proportional system, so it applies the brakes on your flat towed vehicle with the same force you apply in your tow vehicle. It is also a nice choice because you can use it with more than one vehicle. The wiring kit I would go with is the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, part # RM-154. If your brake lights and turn lights are separate, you can get the wiring converter kit, part # 154-792-118158, instead. This will keep the brake lights and turn signals separate on your towed vehicle. The last piece you need will be the safety chains. The Roadmaster 80" Coiled Safety Cables - Double Hook - 10,000 lbs - Qty 2, part # RM-653.
Once you get these items, you will be set for flat towing. I have included product description links, video demo links, and a video of this tow arm being installed below.
