Carrying an Alternative Frame Bike on a Thule Passage Trunk Mount Bike Rack on a 2012 Nissan Altima

Question:

There is no problem with the rack and the car. However, how do you load and secure ladies bikes? Your assistance is appreciated.

Womens bikes or any bike with an alternative frame (alternative in this case meaning the top frame tube is not round and/or does not go straight across parallel with the ground) can present a challenge for a 2-arm hanging bike rack like the Passage # TH911XT.

Manufacturers of bike racks and accessories have come up with a solution. You can use an adapter bar, like # TH982XT, to provide an artificial top tube to load an alternative frame bike. The adapter bar clamps around the handlebar gooseneck and the seat post allowing you to carry alternative frame bikes more level which provides better ground clearance.

I have included a link to a video that shows how the adapter bar works.
