5th Wheel and Gooseneck Hitches for a 2010 Ford F-150 Supercrew with a 5-1/2 Foot Bed

Question:

I would like to use a gooseneck on my short box Ford. I know the pivot point needs to be placed further back in the box. I dont want to manipulate the heavy fifth wheel hitch around when not using the trialer. I would to keep the bed of the truck as clutter-free as possible. Is there any combination of hitches, king pins or goosenecks that I could use? Do not have a trailer as yet. Waiting until I can determine the best hitch hookup.

Are you wanting to pull a 5th wheel hitch or a gooseneck hitch or both? The best way to pull any type of trailer is with a hitch designed for that type of trailer. For example you would not install a gooseneck hitch if you want to tow a 5th wheel trailer because you would have to add in an adapter of some kind. Adapters mean more expense, more stress on the trailer, and not as secure of a connection.

For a 5th wheel trailer I recommend a fixed 5th wheel trailer hitch and a Sidewinder. I have included a link to all of the hitches and installation kits for your 2010 Ford F-150. For a Sidewinder, it depends on the pin box on the trailer. Once you find a trailer you will look at the pin box for the manufacturer and model number. Then use our Sidewinder FAQ article I have linked to determine if there is a Sidewinder that will fit it.

The most popular gooseneck hitch that will fit the 5-1/2 foot bed models of the 2010 Ford F-150 is the Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose # 9465-37. On a bed that short I recommend adding the 5 inch offset ball # 19308.
