For your 2017 Ford Explorer, you are going to need a couple of things to safely and effectively flat tow.

The first thing you'll need is a base plate kit, to allow you to connect your towed vehicle to your tow vehicle. You can use the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX2668.

Using the above base plate will allow you to use the Blue Ox Ascent Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX4375, which is the next required item, and has a maximum towing 7,500-lbs, which should be more than enough to tow your 2017 Ford Explorer.

Following the tow bar, you're going to need tow bar wiring # RM-152-1676-7, which will allow your to connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your towed car.

Continuing, you're going to need a braking system, like the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524, which will allow you safely apply the brakes to your towed vehicle and by responding to the deceleration of your RV.

Finally, you're going to need a high low adapter, like the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-4 to keep your tow vehicle in the safe zone while towing. You're going to need to measure the hitch height, and subtract the difference as described in the article I've attached, to determine which high-low adapter is needed.
