According to my technical contact at Dexter Axle the studs on a mobile home axle are a screw in style of stud. To remove and extract the stud without damaging the existing threads for the studs would be very difficult.
It is possible to drill out the studs and use a tap system, but make sure not to damage the existing stud threads on the hub. If the threads are damaged then using replacement studs would not be a realistic solution. Their recommendation would be replace the entire hub assembly. Please note that hub replacement is recommended to be done in pairs.
I have linked a short video that shows the installation of new studs on an existing hub that might be helpful for you. It sounds like the studs are broken off inside the hub and are recessed. But if that is not the case and there is enough stud that you can still fit two lug nuts on it, (in a jammed position) you can use them and back the stud out of the hub. Which would be the reverse of the process that is shown in the video.
If you are successful in removing the studs without damaging the threads on the hub if you can let me know what the the stud diameter is, the stud length, and the thread pitch, (or threads per inch, TPI) of the studs I can make a recommendation for replacement studs.
If you would like a recommendation regarding a replacement hub or if you are able to successfully remove the hub studs and you need replacement please feel free to email me directly. I can provide recommendations for your if you can include the appropriate information of your existing hubs such as the current bolt pattern of the hub, the bearing number the seal number, and the axle weight rating.
