How Can You Mount The Commercial Grade Battery Box To An A-Frame With Battery Rails?

Question:

I’m a new owner of a Grand Design XLS 22MLE, that has a set of battery box rails full width across the A-frame behind the propane tanks/cover. I want to replace the standard single flooded battery with a 300Ah Li battery to better serve the standard equipment 1500W inverter and solar panel system. I have found H8-sized 12v Li batteries, one of which would be a great upgrade and work with the solar controller on the trailer. Are there any kits that would let me well fasten the Noco 329-HM484 H8 battery box to my standard battery width rails? This, if it can be well fit to my trailers rails would make a great interim approach to getting needed battery capacity on my trailer to support the standard equipment 1500W inverter. Thanks for info on ability to adapt this box to the rail system or other easy to implement interim approaches!

Great question, lets have a look at this unit and see what we can figure out.

**Commercial Grade Battery Box for Group 8D Batteries - Vented # 329-HM484.
*TorkLift PowerArmor Locking Battery Box - 6V and 12V Lithium Batteries - Powder Coated Aluminum # TLA7700L.

The Commercial grade battery box is 24-7/16" long x 15-7/16" wide x 12-5/16" tall and its mounting base is 22-15/16" long x 13-11/16" wide with a mounting hole diameter of 5/16".

We do not offer any kits to mount this unit to any surface or rails. However, it is designed to be mounted using bolts or self tapping screws.

You can see in the linked video about 2:30 second mark how this unit is mounted on another RV.

If you want to add this to an A-frame I suggest rearranging the brackets that are there or building a steel bracket for it to be bolted to and welding or bolting the bracket to the A-frame. You could bolt it to the frame by going through the bottom of the box with bolts directly to the frame, this would require you to drill holes in the bottom and the frame.

You could also go with a torklift lock box for the batteries. It comes with internal straps to hold batteries down and the mounting hardware and brackets are included.

Outside dimensions: 32" long x 10-1/2" wide x 12-1/4" tall
Internal dimensions: 11-3/4" deep x 7-5/8" wide
