Recommended Hitch Bike Racks That Combine Light Weight And Ease Of Installation
Question:
I need a bike rack for a hitch I am getting. But it needs to be an easy release and lightweight one. Since I won’t be using it that often I do not want to spend a lot of money Thanx

I have a hitch bike rack recommendation for you. This rack will work if you are transporting bikes that do not have fenders. The RockyMounts WestSlope Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount, part # RKY10222, weighs 36 lbs. It secures your bike without touching the bike frame.
If your bike has fenders, the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting, part # C18085, is a fairly lightweight hitch bike rack, 46 lbs. It is also fender friendly.
The Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount, part # TH83JV, you attached to your question is also an excellent choice. It is the heaviest of the three options at 52 lbs and it is at a more premium price point. It will not play nice with fenders, but it is the most robust of the three options and the most versatile with regard to tire width. It can carry bikes with tires up to 5" in width.
The hitch bike racks that will be the lightest and easiest to put on and take off your vehicle will also be the more expensive options. Adding the etrailer Hitch Pin Alignment Collar for Bike Racks, Cargo Carriers, and Tow Bars - 2" Hitches, part # e98942, for the first two options I recommended, will help with the installation of these hitch bike racks. The addition of this hitch aligner will allow you to always insert your hitch bike rack to the correct depth in your trailer hitch.
