Mounting Location Recommendation for a Mounting Bracket # 18144 on a Honda Pilot

Question:

Hi- I guess I unknowingly purchased the less expensive bracket that requires attaching with the self tapping screws. Would it help to drill a few small holes as sort of starter holes for the self tapping? And I assume that it mounts right into the hitch draw bar without affecting the structural integrity. Noticed that you have no video or instructions for a Honda Pilot. I see several other instructions for various makes of vehicles.. I would appreciate your answers for the above. Thanks,

We do not recommend you drill into the hitch to install the Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat # 18144. Typically you will install this bracket onto the bumper or rear fascia. Like you said, drilling into the hitch could potentially affect the structural integrity of the hitch.

If you wanted to drill a pilot hole to use a starter hole to install the # 18144 you certainly could.
