Convert-A-Ball 5th Wheel To Gooseneck Adapter Compatibility

Question:

I have a 1997 Ford F250 Power Stroke with a goose neck ball in the bed. I just purchase a 2011 Cougar Model 245 fifth wheel, will the CAB-C5G work for my application? I really dont want to have to change the goose neck ball to a standard fifth wheel hitch and loose all my bed space.

Yes, the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G would clamp onto the king pin of your fifth wheel's pin box allowing you to tow using the gooseneck ball in the bed of your 1997 Ford F-250. That being said it has the following stipulations:

1. Not recommended for use with Reese Elite Series gooseneck trailer hitches. Verify the brand of your gooseneck hitch.
2. Not recommended for use with factory-installed towing prep packages which use a hitch ball with an integrated locking lever. You have 1997 so this isn't an issue for you.
3. Not compatible with sidewinder king pins. When used together they produce two pivoting points at both the ball and the turret which is a safety hazard. If you have a rotating pin box you'll need to install the two lockout bolts in the back of it to prevent it from pivoting.
3. Not compatible with any cushioned or air ride 5th wheel king pin. Verify that you have a standard pin box.
4. Not compatible with Rota Flex king pins. Verify that you have a standard pin box.
