The first thing you will want to do is remove the adapter that you have installed and use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the 4-Way on the vehicle. Have someone sit in the vehicle and run through the various lighting functions while you test the 4-Way. If the 4-Way works fine, then the issue is with the adapter.

The adapter white wire must be grounded to the vehicle frame to a clean and corrosion free bare metal surface. So, the basic process is to mount and then ground the adapter and then plug in the 4-Way. If after you do this and test the 7-Way end of the adapter and it still is not working, then there is some sort of wiring issue with the adapter, and it will need to be replaced.

If you test the 7-Way and it is working but the trailer lights still will not work, then there is a wiring issue on the trailer. Make sure the main trailer connector and all the trailer lights are grounded to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. You can also inspect the trailer connector to make sure it is clean and free of corrosion. Inspect the trailer wiring as well to make sure there are no broken or frayed wires touching metal.
