Why Doesnt My Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Completely Shut Off
Question:
2 dots on the display stays on all the time hooked or unhooked

Since the Prodigy P2 brake controller has a direct connection to the vehicle's battery, the LED on the display of the P2 will always remain lit even after 15-20 minutes of inactivity and it goes into sleep mode. The power draw is very tiny, so you won't have to worry about the battery dying. The vehicle would have to sit for months for that to happen.
They designed the controller like this because if there was a button or switch to turn it on and off people would forget to turn on the controller before towing which is not safe.
Another thing you can check is to use a hook probe circuit tester # PTW2993 on the round plug on the vehicle. The pins on the plug should power up when the right turn, left turn, running lights, and brakes are activated. If they don't you should check the fuses that protect the towing circuits, which will be located in the power distribution box under the hood.
