Can I Use the Ford Hullavator Model VKB3Z-7855100-Z on My Non-Ford Vehicle?

Question:

I have the aeroblade crossbars on my vehicle and wanted to purchase the hullavator pro to attach. I noticed Ford sells the hullavator pro under part # VKB3Z-7855100-Z and its much cheaper. It looks exactly the same as all the other hullavator pros sold anywhere else and the description is the same. However is this the same hullavator pro?? Reason is because not much information or pictures are provided and it says that its only compatible with Ford broncos along with a few other SUVs. However it also says you still need crossbars. If crossbars are still needed then the way the hullavator pro is attached the same way and it would be compatible with any vehicle that has compatible crossbars. Unless Ford has some special version of its hullavator pro Im not sure. Was going to purchase it but wanted some clarification or best guess before I order it. Im almost positive its the same thing from a logical perspective. Thank you!

Great question. I went ahead and contacted my tech at Thule. He confirmed that while the Ford Hullavator model VKB3Z-7855100-Z appears to be the regular Thule Hullavator # TH898, there are some apparent differences. For example, my tech confirmed that the Ford version it only works with square crossbars like the # TH712500. It does not work with roundbars are aero crossbars. It is also important to note that we do not have the specs about what mounting hardware comes with the Ford model. There could be critical components left out that are required to mount on non-Ford applications.

All that being said, the definite compatibility with non-Ford applications is to use the Thule Hullavator model # TH898. If you need a crossbar setup for your vehicle, feel free to respond to this question with the year/make/model and I will be happy to recommend a system that includes the required 4 inch length past the feet that is required for the Hullavator to function on your vehicle.
