Can Weight Distribution Hitch Get Locked to Trailer & Lock For Trailer
Question:
Hi guys- Im considering an equalizer weight distribution sway hitch. Once this is installed, Im wondering how to best secure my hitch to prevent theft. It doesnt look like I can use a coupler lock once the equalizer is installed. What do you suggest for securing my trailer? I know I can use a hitch lock when its attached but Im looking for options to secure it when its unattached. Is a wheel lock the only option? Thanks in advance!

So for a weight distribution hitch like the Equal-i-zer # EQ37100ET, you'll take it off when you get to your destination, and what a lot of people do is separate the arms and the head unit and put them in whatever storage they have available, or their tow vehicle. There isn't a way to lock the a WDH to the trailer, which is why it gets taken apart and off.
Then you can use a standard coupler lock for your trailer like the Master Lock Heavy-Duty Coupler and Latch Lock Combo for 1-7/8", 2", 2-5/16" Couplers # ML389DAT.
