Will The Curt Echo Brake Controller Accelerator Meter Be Affected When Coasting Or Going Up A Hill

Question:

I am highly interested in Curt Echo Brake Controller. I understand that it uses accelerator meter to decide when and how much to apply the braking. However, I was wondering if it would detect natural deceleration from coasting and not apply breaking in that scenario. How does it know if I am applying small amount of braking or it is slowing down from coasting. Also if I hit an uphill road, the towing vehicle would also slow down even if I was stepping on the accelerator. If that case applying the brake would not be desirable. How would it know not to apply the brake in this situation?

With the Curt Echo Brake Controller # C51180 it would not detect natural deceleration from coasting. There may be a small drop but nothing significant. When going uphill there will be no change what so ever the braking power will be the same as when you started. So the only time it will actually have a significant change is if you apply the brakes and it sees brake lights.

I put in a installation video below.
