You will need a crossbar adapter since the Roadmaster XL base plates are are a crossbar style, but yes, the Nighthawk and XL base plates are 100 percent compatible, and this set up will definitely work on your 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Exactly what you need is the following:

- Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 1183-1

- Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676

- Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly # 910021-00

This is a really nice choice because the Nighthawk is the cream of the crop when it comes to tow bars. It has LED lights which make it simple to use even after the sun goes down (or before it comes up if you're an early riser), has an aluminum body which makes it lighter and easier to handle than other tow bars, a long 52" reach which allows your tow vehicle to track behind your motorhome better than bars with shorter arms, and includes both safety cables and an electrical cord so you don't have to buy those separately.

You would still need to get the Replacement Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly for Roadmaster Motorhome Mounted Tow Bars # 910021-00 separately; it does not come with the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount # RM-522. It will, however, work with the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 1183-1. If you wanted a tow bar that will work with those base plates and also came with the crossbar assembly so you didn't have to purchase it separately, the only option for that would be the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plates # e44ZR.
